A member of the Boraginaceae family, Comfrey Leaf is native to watery areas of Europe, Great Britain, and parts of Western and Central Asia, and has been widely naturalized elsewhere. Other common names for this herb include Slippery root, knitbone, blackwort, bruisewort and healing herb!
Comfrey is best known for its component allantoin, a small hormone-like molecule that is used in many topical products to simulate cell growth and tissue repair for broken bones as well as many other conditions including wounds, sprains, ulcers, burns, arthritis and back pain, and rashes. Additionally, Comfrey is beneficial to all skin types as it helps to moisturize and soothe dry irritated skin, promotes rapid skin-cell growth, contributes to skin renewal, protects against bacteria and other microorganisms, reduces inflammation and helps to keep skin healthy.
We recommend using Comfry in external applications such as salves, oils, poultices, and fomentations!
